Congratulations to our Year 8 team on defending their title at The Marches School, Oswestry last week.

Report by Kathy Gardner

We started the tournament with confidence beating the Sir John Talbot’s A team team convincingly. Next up were Oswestry School, followed by The Grove – two more convincing wins. The Corbet A team were next in line. We gave a less confident performance, but a crucial goal by Stephanie Walker secured a victory. We beat Sir John Talbot’s B team to finish top of our pool.

The Semifinals against Thomas Adams saw us off to a slightly shaky start, but we managed to leave the nerves behind us and get through to the final – a rerun of last year, which saw us go head to head with The Marches.

We missed the first goal and they scored. After some great work by our defence, it was back down our end and we equalised. We were soon at 2 – 2 and then we scored again! Another turnover and we had the ball for our shooters to take us to 4 – 2 up. We were all thinking surely it must be time for the final whistle?! Great work by Rosie Snookes as WD kept the ball in our half until the final whistle. The scream from Felicity Davies said it all – North Shropshire Champions again!

Well done to all the team: Bella Sussums-Lewis, Stephanie Walker, Rosie Snookes, Felicity Davies, Hattie Marsh, Molly Hayes-Jones, Imogen Lamb, Amelia Livermore.
