Hatchers Solicitors in conjunction with Cornwall Street Chambers, Shrewsbury - Mock Trial Competition
Pupils from Adcote attended this prestigious competition for the first time on Saturday 22 November. We took part in two trials against Priory School and the Blessed Robert Johnson. The pupils performed the roles of jury, usher, clerk, court reporter, witnesses, defendant and barristers. Each trial and each role was marked by a real trial judge.
Preparation for the roles was intense and pupils put in a great deal of effort at lunchtimes and after school. The pupils were supported by Richard Davenport our designated barrister.
The pupils wrote their roles themselves and got to know their characters well. Pupils then, had to act out these roles at Shrewsbury Crown Court in front of Judge Robin Onions.
Despite competition from schools that had entered the competition before Adcote did very well. The school won a number of awards for best witness and best Jury member and all of the girls enjoyed what was a wonderful experience. |
