THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT!
Monday, 09 November 2009 20:53

On Thursday and Friday last week parents and friends at Adcote School were treated to an evening of first class dance, drama and singing. The show, simply entitled "That's Entertainment", involved most of the girls in the school and was a showcase for performance pieces created in and outside of lessons.

The 'Street Style Dance Com pany' and the 'Lights, Camera, Action (LCA) Dance Com pany', both based at Adcote School , performed original dances choreographed by Adcote pupils. Year 10 GCSE drama students performed a chilling adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde featuring shadow puppets alongside costumed actors. Year 8 produced an original piece of drama entitled 'Captain Pugwash' whilst year 7 retold the story of the Hare and the Hedgehog.

Musical highlights included 'With One Look' sung by Vicky Matthews and 'When Sunny Gets Blue' sung by Kelsey Horton. Emily Brown's haunting rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream' from Les Miserables brought tears to the eyes of many in the audience, whilst Alex MacDonald and Kim-Michelle Brown's version of 'Popular' from the musical 'Wicked' left the house in stitches of laughter.

The evening helped to raise funds for three Adcote dancers, Jemma Hoadley, Vicky Matthews and Natalie Prudence, who are travelling to New York for a week at the end of May to train with professional Broadway dancers and choreographers as part of their BTech in Dance.
