ADCOTE School is to host leadership and management training for businesses in partnership with StudyFlex – a centre approved by the Chartered Management Institute.

Businesses in Shropshire are invited to explore leadership and management qualifications for staff at an introductory conference being held at Adcote School on 27 October.

A one-day masterclass run by Rachel Lambert, managing director of StudyFlex, an Approved Centre of the Chartered Management Institute, will offer an introduction to the core skills of leadership.

Rachel will also introduce businesses to training pathways and the application process for managers and prospective managers to gain one of the Chartered Management Institute qualifications at a new study centre within Adcote School.

The masterclass ‘Managing Teams and Individuals’ will cover topics such as gaining staff trust and commitment, practical techniques for hiring employees, delegating authority, running meetings and resolving conflicts.

Delegates will learn how to handle real-life situations and develop first class skills to become effective, confident and supportive leaders.

There will be an opportunity to take psychometric assessments (15FQ+), a tool used by companies worldwide in executive recruitment to identify areas for personal development. Delegates will also be given an opportunity for networking with other business leaders over lunch.

Rachel said: “This is an opportunity for people to come along and have some face to face time that will motivate them to achieve a CMI qualification. The day involves some concrete training so, even if businesses choose not to sign up, they will still take away some very useful ideas.

“This will appeal to medium sized businesses of 10 or more staff who get the point that if they manage their people better they will deliver more results. Your organization is only as good as your people. There is no doubt that leadership and management training will help deliver those results.”

Richard Walker, Adcote’s Bursar, is a chartered fellow of the CMI himself, having completed Level 5 management and leadersip training with Study Flex.

He said: “When I wanted to do the course in Shropshire I struggled to find anyone offering any face-to-face training. We are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to the local business community – Rachel is truly inspirational – you come away refreshed and reinvigorated with lots of new ideas to take forward into your own business practice.”

The Leadership and Management Conference will take place at Adcote School, Little Ness, on Thursday, August 24th from 10am-3pm. The cost of the day is 125 pounds, plus VAT. This fee will be refunded if businesses choose to sign up for any subsequent events offered throughout the year.
