Adcote has an active and enthusiastic Parents' and Staff Association (APSA) which complements the close knit family atmosphere of the school. Every parent with a daughter at any level of Adcote School (including Happy Faces Nursery) is automatically a member of APSA, at no cost.
Apart from holding events which enable parents to socialise with each other, APSA, through its fundraising activities, generates an income which is available for providing extra equipment or activities for the pupils. In short, it can enhance your child's education while helping to avoid unnecessary increases in fees.
Over the last two years, APSA has sponsored quite a range of items at the school. These include:
- Furniture for the Great Hall and entrance halls
- A new video camera for Drama
- Funds to support the new ICT facilities
- Interactive whiteboards
- Theatre company and school productions
- Gifts to the juniors from Father Christmas
In all, over £12,000 has been passed on to the school over the last two years.
None of this would be possible without the support and the events that occur throughout the year, including the Christmas craft fair, Summer Ball, a Whitsun Golf Tournament, summer fetes, quiz nights, a fun ride and other evening events for all the family and boarders.
Naturally, no event just happens and parents are welcomed to help, whether for a specific day, event or in whatever way you think you can. No support is too small. Come along and meet like minded parents who are supporting the school for your daughters.
This is a fun way to get to know other parents and a particularly useful way to help the School. If you feel you cannot commit to this, we would love to have you as a helper for events. If you have any questions about our events and activities or are interested in becoming a committee member, please contact Helen James via the School Office.
The parent staff association meets at 4:30pm on the second Monday of each month the school is open. If you can make any meeting, you will be most welcome. Please come along if you can.
