At Adcote School we welcome boarders from the age of 8 years old  through to the Sixth Form, who are  housed both in the main building and in purpose built boarding houses. We offer a safe, caring and disciplined environment in a school where privacy and independence are respected, and where the girls can enjoy companionship, fun and a lively programme of boarding activities. Just under half of Adcote pupils are boarders.

Adcote also offers weekly and flexi boarding, in addition to full boarding. Our flexi boarding option is  popular with pupils  for occasional fun over-night stays or for the occasional need such as involvement in a school drama production, a birthday celebration, or for when parents need to be away from home for a particular reason. Boarding for part of the term can also be arranged, to enable parents to take a holiday, attend a conference or respond to family emergencies. For parents boarding can also provide a convenient alternative when work runs late.

Each student has a personal tutor to offer friendship, support and guidance. In addition to tutors, responsibility for the care, personal development, welfare and general happiness of boarders rests with the resident Senior Housemistress who is assisted by two other Housemistresses and a team of  matrons.  They provide the care, comfort and support which is so important for the girls’ well-being and success, nurturing and guiding the youngest boarder through to the maturity of the sixth form student. By encouraging self-discipline and a sense of responsibility, we seek to promote self-confidence and assurance without arrogance.

Adcote’s underlying principle is consideration for others and we have a strong sense of both family and traditional values in our boarding houses. There is a happy mixture of local girls and those whose homes are elsewhere in the UK, with students from other countries who have chosen to study in England.

Our aim is to provide a safe and homely environment that enables each girl in our care to become a self-sufficient and independent young woman, fully equipped to face the challenges of life in the 21st century.

Adcote is a full termly boarding school, and girls are well looked after, not only during the week but at weekends, too. As part of our imaginative provision for both day girls and boarders, we run trips to local venues for shopping, swimming and bowling, visits to concert halls and theatres in the region, and weekend trips to places such as Chester, the  Severn Valley railway and the Birmingham German market.

We believe that communication between home and school is fundamental to a happy boarding experience. Boarders’ parents are always welcome to visit and we are pleased to discuss your daughter’s progress and happiness at any time.

We are accredited for the Forces Continuity of Education Allowance and have a number of pupils from forces families.

Adcote School is a member of the Boarding Schools Association (BSA).
